~~~Meeting Adjourned~~~
Thursday, March 24, 2005
**Note to everyone:  Sorry this post is so late guys...this week has been so hectic for me. I know there have been some changes regarding the levy and other things like that.  But, this was just the minutes for last week...unedited you might say.  Anyways here it is...in all its glory...let's just hope I will live to see another day.
xoxo, Cynth
~ * February 27th ~ 9:07pm meeting starts* ~
Tammy starts to look serious... dun dun dunnnnnn (she puts her "game face" on).
Rita hands around a sign up sheet...(oops that didn't happen yet, but she's going to...it's about the Levy/Sponsorship stuff)
R summarizes what happened last time.
- went over levy details
- ROSI elections 2nd week of March
- Diff from exec/prez elections
- proposing to charge students 35 cents each to help finance Source mags for next year.
- need to campaign to diff student clubs, give reasons and incentives for why they should be supporting us during campaign time.
T(ams):
- teaming up with HHH and Kcutsa...
- going to be enforced for the rest of UofT's life.
- it will be added to tuition costs and whatnot
- once we get 2000 votes...we don't have to worry about funding ever again
- next two weeks we gotta move!!! ASAP
Tammy's phone ring (perhaps another personal call? *wink*)
- we have to fit Source, HHH and Kcutsa into it, so we can't say too much.
Everyone: asks about the clubs...
T: Seems pretty impossible, but it's not (so we gotta get goin' we can do it!)(and C(ynth)'s not running around yelling)
Tammy runs out yelling:  I must go get food from T&T!!! (I thought Source was supposed to be more important?! We're all crying inside Tams...crying)
Aly:  What happened to Dylan Rae?
T:  That didn't work out.  We shouldn't touch anything related to elections b/c it's getting heated.  We should back away from that.
Tams rambles on about something... once again getting off track.
T:  We're going to split up.  Take teams and brainstorm what we're going to do for sponsorship/levys.
- we're still in the process to get our site up.
- wking with idea for resources/water.
- we're worried about the uncool people clicking on our "too cool" site.
Tams tries to save herself from sounding like an idiot (fails...)
Ale(thea):  More inviting than a bunch of spark plugs.
L(ily):  Points out the symbolic side of the water droplet.
Everyone's amazed
T:
-March 26th, 1-5pm @ El Mocambo  Tsunami concert...
-Bitchy Tams is finally revealing itself.
- Working with Amnesty, HHH, Kcutsa and CASS...more money = better.
- 2000 bar tap...(we're gonna get drunk early huh...?)
Time arguments arise.
- No choice b/c of Seshan booking...
- Night club thing later as well (meeting tomorrow)
K(evin):  How big is the club?  etc. etc....
T:  We dont' know the details right now.
K:  Is BSA involved b/c Stephanie has good connections...nice lounge...cap 200.
*Steph is an organizer in the BSA club.  Excursions was held there, it was nice.  Free b/c of Steph.
T:  Go to the meeting tomorrow.
(C is starting to struggle now...hiding the fact that she can't type as fast as everyone's talking)
T:  Student clubs submit forms about what their clubs are about, plus tips and advice.
Quan arrives~
T:  This presentation is to show the student groups what we're about.  We'll be sending you this power point presentation.
(C is once again having trouble catching up, while Tammy struggles to count the number of Source members...she tries again and again...finally getting on the billion-th try).
*Power point presentation is shown.
- We've established that it's really corny...but cute!
- 5 min presentation, casual, but organized.  So we look nice enough to talk to but we "get our shit done". (did you have to swear Tams?!...geez...my virgin ears.)
T:  We have a hand! (points to Aly, who is raising his hand)
Aly:  Suggests the "spinning" folder.  Also press packages...don't cost a lot. (what happened to this idea in the end? We suddenly stopped talking about it.  Did we just let it go?)
T:  We're hoping we'd jazz it up.
C thinks: Kev can do a rap...hehe.
T:  We need to promote b/c we need more $$$.  From now to Sept, we need to test things out.  This is a new idea.  We're doing a trial and error thing.
R:  Sept. launch of the student life guide is what puts us on the map.
Levy talk ensues.
Ale: TARGET 4th YEAR STUDENTS!!! THEY WILL SUPPORT YET DON'T HAVE TO PAY!!! (mwahahahahaha)
T:  I know a bunch of 4th years...I'll take them out to dinner (Tammy is clearly desperate for a date.)(don't kill me Tams).
Tams can't find the paper...HOW UNORGANIZED...
~~T notices that C is typing every embarassing thing she's saying (I am not talking about Tammy...I love her too much!)  hehe (C is trying to redeem herself...)
*Topic becomes really abstract when Tams is randomly looking for the whip! (Kinky...).
*Sponsorship stuff...
- List of sponsors that we're "attacking"
- Requires a lot of research.
- We want to cater the presentation to them
- By going on to the websites, we can see what they value.
- Any more ideas?
- Deadline will be 3rd week of March.
- Meet/sponsorship packages depending on the company.
- Try micro-brewerys b/c they target ppl our age anyways.
Tammy imitates stripping...trying to give out beers (we know what job to give her now!)
- Money should vary (gold, silver, bronze sponsorships)
- Break down $$$.
- is $500 enough?
- U of T idol (Lily starts considering participating once she realizes the prize is/was tuition money).
Tammy excitedly interrupts...starts yelling at us again (mentions something about a pocket guide in Vancity)(Hello??? We were clearly in our own discussion...how rude :P)
More talk about sponsorship continues
Tams talks about the flip-mag again (see previous meeting minutes)
- since our font is "so damn big" as Tams says, we can fit more.
Ale: Student mags - more opinion articles.
R:  Whatever sponsorship we make, we can take the extra for our sept. issue.
Ale:  What's the size?
T:  That's negociable
Ale:  We should still try to work on the magazine immediately.
S(hara):  We can still prep for print.
T:  We still need a website... we're working on that (go D(iana)!)
- Page is made up already
- D's working on it
- No domain name yet.
Ale:  What about an online issue?
T:  Our site's not up yet.
~ We need money!  Sponsorship team needs to get goin'!
Levy is the 7, 8 and 9th of March (the voting stuff)
Pay for flyering
- K suggests: little cards cost ~ $300 for a few thousand copies.
- Alethea's making the flyers
- Woodsworth front desk (pick up)
Meeting's now changed to Mondays at 9!
Booth @ Sid Smith...doesn't matter if we don't get an approval, we'll play "idiot".
- An idea (from Tams):  "We will all strip for you if you vote for the levy" (oh man... what are we getting ourselves into?)
- Sell candy or Tammy at the booths...go Tams *wink*
Ale:  I have a locker at Ramsey Wright, it's free and we'll be able to store stuff. Tammy should set her own booth up at WW front desk.
*We've established that Tammy's going to eat all the candy, pretending that a lot of people came.  We know your game Tams...don't lie.
*Tams is slacking off..she claims she's working "VERY HARD...VERY HARD!!!" (what's with all the yelling today Tams?)
*Tams is so paranoid now, everytime I type something she thinks I'm talking about her.  I'm not!  Well...most of the time...
Alethea shows her Panama pics! While everyone looks on...she sounds like a bio lecturer...
The main points:
~The site is going to be up soon, then we can start getting the word out about our site, and getting our website organized and stuff.
~Everyone has to get their stuff done.  The deadlines are really soon...and in order to get the word out and succeed, we need to keep working.
~CHECK YOUR EMAILS TOMORROW EVERYONE!!!
~Meetings are now changed to Mondays at 9!
~We still need money!  We have to focus on the sponsorship/levys!!!
~Cynthia knows that Tammy's gonna kill her one day b/c Cynth has said too much.
Saturday, February 19, 2005
here are some designs for the webpage.
there are two versions...
first version (my first design before consulting with rita):
>this will be the opening page (ppl will have to click on "source" to enter)
>this will be our main page. (purposely enlarged for viewing purposes)
-also looks good in black background (but found it too dark)
-u of t directory does not stick out... it will remain within the box and just move like so: u of t d i r e c t o r y...
second version (after consulting with rita - rita suggested a more "fresh" look and liked the "water tap" idea more):
>there are currently four opening page designs:
>this is our main page
and i just did this for fun.
Minutes for February 9th Meeting at WW Meeting Room:
Meeting delayed.
Time: almost 9... (where was your punkass?<-note it wasn't d&c...)
Oooh...!!! (Tammy impresses the crowd with her bag of munchies)
T: Have you guys tried Clodhoppers...?... Why is Aly not coming? (Tammy is undergoing a dual [fun tammy vs. serious tammy] personality crisis)
C: I don't know... Why are you looking at me?! You can actually look out and see his window though.
D: How would you know?
C: Omg...(Cynth ignores, takes food out...everyone reaches for the food)
T: I know, have one!
"Omg..." "O MY!" "Ooomg" (orgasms fill the room... discussion on smartfood starts)
R: I'm worried about funding for the next issue.
(T continues to eat. No one seems to care about the funding.)
T: I'm not sure if we're doing it (newsmag).
R: Realistically I dont' think we can do it
T: Realistically we can do it...
S and C have a discussion about clodhoppers
T: Wow, you can really see into peoples' rooms.
Tammy reaches for smartfood as she continues to stalk ppl (it's intuitive) but C takes it away. T only realizes it later that the bag's been moving when she finally detaches her eyes from the suites
T: I wonder if more people are coming. (switching of personality continues)... Where is...? I'm gonna call...(a conversation is made with herself)
D: pass it (Clodhoppers) over cynth... (diana is annoyed that she does not have the munchies infront of her 24/7) here, these can be useful for... (diana transfers all the food onto her "agenda" paper that was made by tammy)
T: It's not ringing... oh I didn't press "call"
Group: hahaha
Random individual conversations starts off.
T: Okay, forget it; people have exams
Rita: (One of the random conversations) I bash up peopole so much to their faces...(subject changes) I've been talkin about my dad; he's been tellin him about his past love life.
T: That's weird.
C: My dad would always say, "I used to be so popoular."
T: It's weird to see our parents our age
S: I would always see pictures of my dad with weird clothing and I would ask, "Why are u wearing a jacket no shirt?!"
D: Mmm put it here (diana continues to eat).
Mumble Jumble
T: Okay lets get the meeting started.
Group complains
T: I just want to go home... vancouver (don't know where that came from)
D whines (she wants to go home too).
"From burned out to fired up: a woman's guide to rekindling the passion and meaning in work and life" book is passed around. Rita is made fun of for reading it.
R: I think im slighty autistic
T: You think ure slightly in everything...We need to get our newsmags out. (Tammy's dual personality rubs off onto Rita).
Rita wrote heartstoppers in place of clodstoppers
T: Please go to the SAC office to pick up the Source newsmags.
D: Where's the SAC office?
Everyone else:  It's the colorful house with the rainbow roof across from Hart House.
D:  Oh...right! that's so ghetto...
T:  Any new ideas or comments about the Source newsmag?  A lot of people said it was really ugly.
S:  It turned out really well having done it on our own computers, you know?  There's a lot of potential.
D:  No one really "believes" that we're the Source...blah blah Cynth is having issues catching up...(diana edits: unless, we get our newsmags out fast, people will doubt our abilities as the "source")
OMG everyone's talking too fast...AHHH AHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHH
R:  I don't think Jed is gonna this (website) for us anymore.  He's really busy this year, after that cover, you even saw that cover...
T:  Anyone know any computer geeks that can help make the site?
Everyone suggests people they think might want to do it.
Diana volunteers. C and S are willing to help too.
T:  Any new ideas about the newsmag?
D:  We should have the contact info in one place, it was too spread out, scattered. You can so tell that we're all over the place. The fonts are big but the spaces in between each line are too far.
R:  I'm going to get an issue of the copy... I mean copy of the issue, did I say issue of a copy. (Rita exits)
D: A guy at the party was wondering if we can help advertise his club, and people can buy ad space.
T:  We didn't really want to do ad space, because it kinda makes our mag seem "commercial".  We wanted it to completely belong to the students themselves.
D:  See the spacing *points to page* there's so much space.
Argument about size of page/font continues.
D:  Do they have a "province" in Ontario?
T:  No, that's BC.  I'm going back so I'll take a look at it.
D:  Once funding becomes a problem, we'll figure out how valuable space is to us.
T:  The issue is ratio-wise.  What's on tap is our opinion section.
D:  What are the divisions?
T:  Yeah, so basically the divisons are gonna be...  There's always going to be an editor page, a source page...the contact page. That will always happen.  We will always have a section for student clubs, student clubs of the month, student services, and what's on tap... Do you want this to be student club or student life magazine?  We can be commercial and light about it.
D:  I think student-life because more people might read it.  Like the whole fashion thing for example.. If we have a photographer and take pictures of students then people will actually look for themselves on the paper.
T:  Half on student clubs, half on student life.
R suggest flipping the page upside down and such, being two diff magazines.
D:  You wanna be fed? (talks to Cynth who is typing) tell me when you get tired...
T writes down suggestions and points out what kind of mag we think.
T:  We don't want it stupid like Cosmo...
DC synchronize: Cosmo isn't dumb.
T:  Sorry...
The Source club then blazes on the other newspapers (just kidding)...but discuss how UofT needs a lighthearted mag, where you don't have to belong to a club to read it.
S:  My main issue is that the articles are so serious or so arbitrary.  It would be good to have a fresh spin on everything.
D:  The approach we can take is to have students write the newsmage... and have their say.  I was reading the Varsity and there was an article on how students were being effected by the unshoveled snow and such... so the approach we can take is to have students write funny experiences that might've happened as they walked to class.
T:  This will unify us, not like everyone will be walking around holding hands.  Everyone's segregated here, like $1 pints, 50 cent shots...etc. etc.
T:  I want people to see that UofT is not just studying, but also fun and stuff.  We want student interaction as well as student voice.
Everyone gives props to Rita!!! Cool cool idea Rita ^^
T:  Our promotion (no offense) sucks.  It's just that the idea's good.  People like it.  But we actually have to BE it.
R:  How do we actually BE Source?
D:  The best way is to promote through parties... just even having SOURCE at the bottom of the party-flyers would be good.
T:  That's the whole point about the flyers...it's doesn't matter what people think or if they know anything...it's just to get our names out.
D:  Even if we just go and intro ourselves would be good.
T:  That's costly...
D:  Are we getting funded?
T:  There's a meeting with seven clubs...the big names.  We're all going to apply for a levy.  5 bucks for all the clubs.  This way we're not drowning in water on our own.  We have to promote ourselves.
D:  Why don't we all chip in 50 bucks?...(desperate times indeed calls for desperate measures)  I think that now that we have one issue out, the priority is selling ourselves. Unless we sell it, no ones gonna even look at our second issue.
T:  To get into the events, people should just invest?
D:  there will be those who are committed...more ppl are driven than a few others.  I am worried we will end up having one or two ppl going to the events.  There's only so much one or two can do... The whole chip-in-idea forces everyone to go; our execs will go bc we're spending our own money
T:  Should we hit the bigger clubs only then?
R:  What's our goal? Are we tryin to get the names out to the public? Do we have to do both?
C:  We need to have the name out...
S:  We need a starting point.
Q:  Try bigger clubs; they're more active
D:  You'll get more support faster by sticking with bigger clubs
Debate on mentioning levy at presentation continues.
S:  People might get the wrong idea.
D:  We're all going through financial stress... Everything is business oriented and political.  Action speaks louder than words.
Q:  We can get them (clubs) more members by publicizing them.
D:  Big clubs don't need more members.  They're big enough to promote themselves. Realisitically, we have nothing to offer to the bigger clubs. Really, publicity...that's cool... but we're in the position, where we're askin a favor. If we were to appeal to people it would have to be through bigger clubs.
T:  The clubs would be like we've been doing fine witout you.  We should do the presentations...have ads for levys w/o mentioning at the presentations
D:  How desperate are we?
T:  Pretty damn desperate.
D:  I can get company sponserships...I mean, I can try.
T:  It was 2000 dollars to do...costwise we can minimize it.  But we still need money.
D:  I think it's best to get sponser outside of campus....
T:  We'll still have a team for sponsorships.
D tells about ski trip stuff and about bsa, kcutsa and h3 event money problems.
C:  Here...I'll do it cuz D talks a lot.
---write names...bc we never really keep in touch.  we don't know who's doing what
---we're not pinned down for the job
---we're not paid...(pay us pay us!!!)<---just kidding tams
---make it very realistic.  more specific = more realistic
---few members that are more active then others (ahem ahem...no names here)
---yayyy for feedback...tams needs to be more bitchy (ya hear?)
---mock presentations in front of each other
---divide everyone into groups of three...run presentations thru
---specific groups already chosen to contact.  (go team go!)
---mock presentations so we have some uniformity.  more professional
---train promo ppl...(tips)  we need to look professional.
---we should practice (it makes perfect!) ^^
---we should make sure we have good relations with outside people (picking the right people)
QUAN ditches us!!! It's cuz he hates D...(she talks too much) we all know it... haha jk D jk...
---3 hr meeting... (I think I'm gonna be sick...*cough*cough*)<---dont worry tams I'm coming!
---Rita, Alethea and Tams doing the mock presentation.
---We need uniformity and be professionalism...<---main ideas
I've noticed that Tammy is totally hogging the popcorn...geeez
---should still be doing sponsorship
---these "hearstoppers" (haha Rita) are So good...want to keep eating them..but must refrain...must stop..
Tammy gets a call...she's pretending it's a business call, but we know she's really just setting up a date for the weekend *wink*.  It's alright Tams, we understand.
---hard copy of presentation
Woohooo D's feeding me food.
---make sure we take this seriously.  we want good relations...
---Professional = important
Tammy's ideas have suddenly disappeared..gone down the drain.
---less choice...so tell people what to do. (stop being so nice Tams...where's the bitch side yo?)
---Rita-->sponsorship packages
THANKS CYNTH YOU ARE SO COOOOOOOL and GREAT
Diana attempts to cover her footsteps by telling people to shut up and not blab outside the circle. jk D...
~we have established that ****** is not a learner... talk continues... ANTI-******
Gossip continues...mwahaha going OFF THE RECORD. hehe
Things we have established...
We love our prez ppl! Yayyyy Tams and Rita! (personal statment by: cynth)
Food should be at every meeting...yummmmmmmm
Aly is half assed but somehow we think he's dedicated?
We should run around yelling SOURCE SOURCE SOURCE...I'm not doing that! (note: diana and ash (d&c's roomie) got bluemountain covered *wink*)
Let's get our name out!
Sponsorship and training
Tammy volunteers to do push-ups for everyone...
We should make events mandatory, so things will actually get done.
Signing up for events = you HAVE to go.
Money is a tough subject. (Cynth still wonders why Tams hasn't brought up selling herself like at all the other meetings...hahah don't kill me plz)
